#3 Printing hearts

We'll meet on the 14th of February to print hearts. The first print will start at 11:30am.

One very important part of 3D printing is having the printer. Modeling skills, however, are arguably more important.

Design a heart and consider submitting it be printed over lunch.

Make a clip. Buy a clip.

As a result of our inagural meeting a member thought it'd be great to model and print a clip for his patio door that had broke. It was make or buy. In this case we were able to make.

It took 20 min or so, SketchUp, a calipers and some coffee but we got it done.

What would you like to model and print?

3D Printing!

I am preocupied with the interaction between the digital and the physical. Toward that end I recently built a Makerbot 3D printer (more at Makerbot.com) and have been logging the progress at MSPMakerbot.com.

Tech enthusiasts from the local community suggested that I act on my instinct that there be a group in the metro for 3D printing enthusiasts. I thought that'd be a great idea.

Looking forward to meeting and creating with you all.
